ABOUT ME

Akai was found in a terrible state. Her body was covered in wounds and she was totally hairless. She was taken to the pound and was so emaciated that she looked like a small puppy.

Akai is not a puppy but a very young dog at one year old. We believe her to be a staffy cross. She has been looked after by one of the volunteers and her skin is healed up and she is starting to put on weight.

Akai has leishmaniasis. This is a parasitic infection that although no curable it is perfectly treatable and dogs can live a normal life like any other dog just by taking one to two tablets daily of Allopurinol.

Leishmaniasis is a very common condition in Spain and transmitted to dogs by a fly that only lives in Mediterranean climates.

Akai is absolutely delightful temperament wise. She is loving with people, dogs and cats. A wonderful dog
