“Having a look at the beautiful pictures of a dog that is so happy when previously so miserable, makes me wonder at the beauty of internet. To think that someone living in the Southwest of England can have such a profound effect on a dog living in Spain that I had never heard of is simply wonderful”
These words belong to Vanessa, who sponsored a pound dog and they have touched our hearts.
When Vanessa saw the pictures of Coba, a beautiful black Belgian shepherd, scared and defeated in a pound in the north of Spain, she wanted to help. Therefore, she offered to donate £150.00 monthly so we could take Coba out of the pound to a boarding residence. We knew that she would be safe there and she would feel much more settled and happier.
And, this is what we did! A volunteer in Spain drove Coba away from the pound to the boarding residence early one morning. She was incredibly scared with no hope that this new journey would take her to a better place. How wrong was she!
A few days later after arrival, the boarding residence owner started sending us some pictures of Coba. They showed a dog full of confidence, joy and desire to live life to the maximum. Her body language had totally changed, tail was up and she was continuously challenging the volunteers to play with her.
When we saw this, it reminded us why we do this job and why donors like Vanessa are so vital to help these pound dogs.
We now need to find a forever home for Coba in the UK, but know that whilst she waits she is not suffering.
The longer scared dogs are in the pound, the longer it can take them to settle. Their immunity decreases and are more vulnerable to infections, so ensuring that these dogs are placed in loving places as soon as possible is very important.
Vanessa is delighted at seeing the stream of pictures with a happy, confident dog looking directly at her as if she wanted to say “Thank you for saving my life”
A sentiment that we echo; thank you Vanessa for helping wonderful Coba. You have made a real difference to this sweet dog.
