Arrived at pound in: 2021

Barry is a gorgeous shepherd cross around 4 years old and has such a lovely face, the kind you want to squish with kisses.

He is currently in foster in the Cornwall area but we are looking for a permanent home.

Barry isn't very comfortable around children, he is not aggressive, just not used to them - so we are looking for an adopter who is willing to help him overcome his fears and anxieties and give him the patience he needs.

Although he is not an aggressive dog we understand that he needs to go through a process of desensitisation to small children. We do not adopt dogs to families with small children and in this case we will be extending this restriction to families that often have very young children (under six years old) such as grandchildren visiting.

Barry is a very active, playful and loving dog who would suit a family, who have the time to work with him. He is a bit anxious and any prospective adopter will need to work with our in-house professional so he can lose his fears and anxiety.

The foster tells us he reacts to other dogs when on the lead  which is a common behavior in pound dogs and can be addressed with a behavior protocol that involves desensitization and counter conditioning. Our charity has a behaviorist who will work with his future family and ensure he makes progress. These protocols are very efficient and will work with time and commitment.

We are rooting for Barry and we cannot wait for him to be in his forever home.

Full rescue back up provided. Adoptions to the UK only. All adopters must pass a virtual homecheck. Our rehoming fee is £490 and includes dog pound release charges, neutering, blood tests, vaccinations, passport processing, transport and border control charges. We arrange everything for you and will support you before, during and after the dogs arrival to your home.
